A & W H Evernden 116 West Street Shop Displays
W H Everden owned a shop in West Street Faversham. The shop appears to have been a stationers, with emphasis on cards and calendars. In 1929 Evernden entered a competition for the 'Best display of British cards and Calendars in the United Kingdom,' apparently run by a magazine called 'Greetings.' We are unsure of the title of the magazine, only having a single page in our archive. The good news was that Evernden won, winning a prize of £30.00 (worth approx. £2500 today.)
W. Evernden was also a Faversham photographer and we are fortunate that many of his photographs have survived.
